MindAstronaut is an awesome new community that explores ancient wisdom, sacred ritual and modern technology to access and understand Being through all dimensions. If you are inspired to participate in in our live event, please review the film submission guidelines below. Adhering to the following guidelines when submitting your film will significantly increase your opportunity to be selected for a screening at the MindAstronaut Film & Artisan Series.

 

Film Submission Guidelines

Film & Artisan Series programming staff will select and invite films at their discretion. Entrants will be notified, if selected, via email, at least 30 days prior to the screening date. If your film is not selected you may or may not be notified. Please feel free to email us regarding your film’s status anytime 30 days after submission.

A preview copy must be submitted to us for consideration. Preview means the copy we will use to review for acceptance of your film.


GENRES

The series accepts films/videos in the following genres: dramatic feature, dramatic short, comedy, documentary feature, documentary short, narrative short, GLBT, animation, Conscious, and music video. Series programming staff may use their discretion to place your film in the appropriate category.


DELIVERABLES

If selected, filmmakers are expected to provide the following. Upload the items listed below to either DropBox, WeTransfer, Drive or similar uploading service, and email us the links. If your film has not been accepted, please do not email us these items.

(a) Exhibition/Screening copy.

(b) Your film’s trailer (MPEG compatible formats).

(c) Stills (300dpi).

(d) Your film’s digital poster and/or flyers. (Note: digital poster and flyers are not optional. Electronic files only, no hard copies).

(e) A blurb or description of the film, the filmmaker, or any other details that you would like included in the event description.

Eligibility/Rules of Entry:

Filmmakers from anywhere are welcome. Films entered into competition must be directed, produced, or principally acted by one or more artists who will be physically present the night of the screening. There will be a Q&A with the cast and crew immediately following the screening. Entries must have been completed after January 1, 2016. Entries must not have been exhibited previously at any event in the North County San Diego area.

Foreign language entries must be subtitled with English subtitles. Films cannot be re-entered into the series in general if previously rejected from the MindAstronaut First Friday Film & Artisan Series.

Screening Fees

The series will not waive fees where applicable, and will not pay rental fees under any circumstances. Rather, we devote our resources to producing the best possible showcase for your work and promoting your work as widely as possible with distribution of your product in mind.

Submission Fees and Deadlines

A completed submission form must accompany each entry. There are no exceptions. The series does not charge submission or participation fees for films at this time.

Notification

If your film is selected for screening at the 2018 MindAstronaut First Friday Film & Artisan Series, you will receive an email from us up to 30 days before your assigned screening date. If you do not receive an email, this does not automatically mean your film was not accepted. Sometimes the notification process is delayed for various reasons. Feel free to email us after 30 days to obtain the disposition of your submission. But please do not email us prior to this time.

Feature and Short Definition

A feature is any work with a running time of 40 minutes or longer. Less than forty minutes running time designates a short.

NOTE:

Upon acceptance of your film; your film’s trailer, stills and other materials may be used during the series for promotional purposes and in subsequent years. Selected films will be screened one time during the Series, unless the film is invited to participate in a subsequent event. Your press kit material and trailer may be used to promote the following year’s event.

Legal Notice:

When submitting a film to the MindAstronaut Film & Artisan Series you are representing that you’re; (a) duly authorized to submit such film; (b) you are in fact committing such film for screening at the MindAstronaut First Friday Film & Artisan Series if accepted, and (c) hereby submit your film in consideration of the series’s screening your film, if selected (excusing any technical issues).

Accordingly, your submission constitutes a binding agreement between you as the applicant, and/or filmmaker and the MindAstronaut Film & Artisan Series pursuant to this agreement. You agree to hold the MindAstronaut  LLC, EVE Encinitas,  Artists, Performers and its affiliates, harmless from any damages whatsoever, including personal injury. By submitting your film, you are confirming that you have read and fully understand the above terms and conditions and hereby agree that it constitutes your electronic signature and agreement upon submission. Any breach of the agreement by you may result in your film’s disqualification and cancellation.

Entrants shall obtain all licenses, royalties, and permits necessary to present their work. Entrant will assume all costs arising from the use of patented, trademarked, franchised or copyrighted music, materials, devices, processes, or dramatic rights used in production of work. Entries previously exhibited on the Internet are eligible for entry so long as they meet the above requirements.
